Diff'rent Strokes for Diff'rent Folks

Am. society labels men who wear dresses and women who wear flannel as odd, unusual, or homosexual. We ridicule others' clothing and look, knowing nothing about what precipitates it (economic status, personal desire, work). We consider shows and the stars in them who do the same as prophets (Jersey Shore) rather than judgmental assholes. Why, when online as we are or in the classroom, do we talk a big game about acceptance and social influence, when in reality, we seem to be unable to defy our judgmental nature? Many of you may even be offended when I ask this, declaring "I am not like that! or I do not care what other people think!" But think about the next conversation you have with your friends about others, or the last one, and respond.

Which seems more likely to you: that gender roles are mostly socially constructed and implemented, or that gender roles are biologically inherent and naturally adopted? Why?
